MONTREAL – October 19, 2009 - SF Marketing, the exclusive distributor of Shure products in Canada, is proud to announce it has recently signed drummer Paul Brochu to a multi-year endorsement contract. Commenting on the new partnership Brochu says, “ The best connection between my drums and the audience are my Shure Microphones.”

“We are proud to continue our long-time relationship with Paul Brochu, widely acclaimed as one of Canada’s top drummers and a perfect endorsee for our Shure microphones.” states Luisa Cabrita, Shure Product Manager at SF Marketing.

Paul Brochu started playing drums at the age of seven. By the time he was 13, Paul was taking private lessons with Roger Juneau, Principal Percussion with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra and head of the percussion department at the Quebec Conservatory.

At 16, while enrolled at the Conservatory on a full-time basis, Brochu joined Quebec City's premier Top 40 band as well as a local jazz group. Shortly after graduating from the Conservatory with a Master's degree in percussion, Brochu joined Montreal based Jazz-Fusion group UZEB which would later tour throughout Canada, the US, Europe, and Asia – becoming internationally recognized as one of the top Jazz-Fusion groups of its time.

Throughout the '90s, Brochu made sure he kept his creative juices flowing, often performing his own, sometimes complex, sometimes very subtle arrangements and compositions, with his tightly knit group of top notch Montreal musicians – The Rhythm Diggers.

He has lent his drumming and musical skills to a who's who of Canadian and French Artists such as, Charles Aznavour, Michel Legrand, Aldo Nova (Writer-Producer for Céline Dion) Gregory Charles, Michel Cusson & The Wild Unit & Alain Caron's Le Band (both his ex-UZEB bandmates), Jean-Pierre Zanella, Gino Vannelli, Frank Gambale, and more.

Although consistently busy on the performing front, Brochu manages to find the time to share his musical knowledge with students at the University of Montreal. Over the years he has exposed hundreds of drummers to his drumming mastery and his novel use of electronics and MIDI technologies through classes and drum clinics presented across Canada and Europe.

Throughout this outstanding career, Brochu himself has maintained a healthy desire for constant improvement and has sought knowledge and inspiration through contact with a wide range of musicians representing varied musical styles as well as through his private studies with the likes of Frank Malabe (Drummers Collective, NYC), Peter Erskine & Alex Acuna (Los Angeles).

When Shure endorsee Dave Weckl was asked recently in an interview, which live performances, have really “done” it for him, he responded, “Peter Gabriel a few years back, and that was really awesome. Another was Gino Vannelli, with Paul Brochu on drums – just incredible.”
